Coffeeneuring 2023 Rides Roundup

More time on bike this month than most of the year, so coffeeneuring is already a bit of a win. This post started as a spot to write a personal note on dates/locations ride 2, then became a place for a note all the rides, and finally has evolved into a full run down of all the rides. I started with ride 1 on Tuesday 10/10, so weeks are defined as Tues-Monday.

Ride 2: October 15,Donut Shop Coffee, 3.15 miles (Ride 2/2 for week 1)

Today’s ride is a little loop around town to the local donut shop for a drip coffee.

Ride 3: October 18, Drive Through Drip Coffee, 2.99 miles. Ride 1/2 in week 2.

Same-ish route but new drip coffee to go from Luckman’s coffee roasters. Schedule issues and big fog derailed my aspirations for a longer ride but I got to do drive-through coffee on the bike.

Off the road, the fog is pretty fun to ride in—and I stuck to the river trail for most of this ride. It’s like being inside a cloud and I had lots of water condensed on me by the end. Hits different after a long, dry, clear summer.

Ride 4: October 20 – Tiny Bridge Coffeeshop without walls, 5.29 miles. Ride 2/2 for week 2.

Today’s ride had a goal of getting off the usual loop. There’s a little one lane temporary replacement bridge over a creek that is my personal line defining an “epic” ride. I paused there to drink my pourover. Not enough time for an epic ride today, though, so turned back.

Ride 5: October 24 – Riverfront Park Coffeeshop without walls, 3.3 miles. Ride 1/2 for week 3.

Today was a quick jot down the river trail and back. Was expecting rain but just had gray and cold, which means I could admire the beauty of the fall leaves and not dread the coefficient of friction of wet fall leaves (though slightly moist ones still need caution).

Ride 6: October 27, Vault Books and Brew Round 2, 4.91 miles. Ride 2/2 for week 3.

Another out-and back on the river trail, this time with a custom drink order. Notably, my definition of “short out-and-back” distance is increasing.

Hooray for being able to go to favorite place 2x! Experimented with a “liquid fall” drink I heard about on TikTok: chai tea with instant cider and a pump of caramel. Tasty but needed some spice (may have remembered it wrong when I ordered)

Brief detour to hike partway up the eponymous Castle Rock.

Ride 7: November 6 “Epic” Portland Ride With Law School Coffee and Cemetery Descent (10.5 miles) (Only ride of week 4)

It gets its own post.

Yeah I’m not fast
